Hey Beautiful Soul!
Roots and Renewal started with my own path — years of nursing's grounded work with birth and babies, motherhood's raw highs and exhaustion, and the endless curiosity that's always pulled me toward bigger questions. Life threw plenty of plot twists: the laughs, the tears, the moments I kicked and screamed, but I kept getting back up — resilient, stubborn, and still full of wonder.
This space exists to offer what I needed then and what I see so many seeking now: gentle, no-nonsense support for anyone ready to root deeply, release what's heavy, and reclaim their spark. Through Reiki, shamanic journeys, energy clearing, and earth-rooted soul work — no hierarchies, no cookie-cutter approaches, just intuitive, trauma-aware space that's as unique as your story.
My mission is simple: meet you right where you are, hold witness to your full experience (the tough spots, the comebacks, the quiet strength), and help you reconnect directly to your own light, synchronicity, and energy — with room for giggles, real talk, and wonder along the way. Renewal isn't about being perfect; it's about showing up authentic, resilient, and ready to shift.
My Story
I'm Katie, born and raised in North Carolina, where both my parents grew up too — family roots run deep in these Appalachian areas.
As a kid in a small southern town, I spent a lot of time playing in the woods and creek, climbing trees, splashing around, and looking up at the stars, asking questions about life and what else might be out there. Church was part of the routine — mainly whatever church bus came to the neighborhood to pick up kids, plus vacation Bible schools in the summers — but even then, I felt a direct connection to angels, fairies, and the energy in trees, plants, and animals. That sparked early questions: Why did only preachers seem to have access to God or angels? Why was one religion treated as the only correct one? And reports of abuse or misuse of power in some churches didn't add up for me. In my teens and early twenties, I stepped back to figure things out my own way.
Family life had its challenges. As the oldest with two younger siblings, I often cared for them, helped Mom, and was her friend and confidant through tough times. School didn't always feel easy either; in the gifted program during the 80s and 90s, I was the "different" one — good at learning but often picked on, which taught me trust has to be earned.
In 2008, I graduated from Watts School of Nursing and became a mom. I started in mother/baby care, then moved to Labor and Delivery as our family grew to four in 2011. That same year, Charcot-Marie-Tooth issues caused a fracture in my right 5th metatarsal — it needed surgery and reconstruction. In 2016, after my last C-section and our family expanding again, the left foot did the same — another fracture and corrective surgery. Those moments, linked to pregnancy and birth, gave me firsthand insight into how physical and emotional changes overlap, and why gentle support matters during them.
Along the way, I built the life I wanted: a solid partnership, three kids, and a home that's open and safe for their friends. I still get drawn into other people's stories — the tough spots, the comebacks, the everyday strength it takes to keep going.
My spiritual side started opening up more in 2019. I completed Reiki 1 and 2 in 2021, Reiki 3 (Master level) in 2022, and in 2025, began training in the Medicine Wheel from the Andean and Peruvian lineage. These practices clicked with what I'd felt as a kid — direct access to energy, nature, and guidance, no intermediaries required.
Now, from my home base in Person County, I offer Reiki, shamanic journeying, energy clearing, and soul support. My nursing background and motherhood experiences shape how I work: practical, trauma-aware, and customized to you. No hierarchies or one-size-fits-all — just clear, intuitive space for whatever transition, postpartum phase, grief, burnout, or shift you're moving through.
Outside sessions, I'm usually outside with the trees, stargazing, putting together playlists, journaling over coffee, or reading about folk traditions and women's wisdom.
